Storms Disability Services (SDS) are located and servicing the North East Coast of Tasmania. Founders Gail and Dave O’Connor identified the great need for support services in the area, and created their dream to fulfil those needs – to ensure that each individual is given choice and control and strengthens their abilities to lead an independent, fulfilling life. With any participants, we ensure that a Care Plan is developed in your early stages of being supported by us. This includes identifying your goals, creating measurable, attainable steps to get outcomes, and thinking outside the conventional box. Our team is innovative, flexible and happy to tailor supports to suit your needs, and help you flourish. We always work with integrity and respect and will ensure and empower you to have your needs and wants communicated.

The little things
My name is Karen and I have spinal bifida, I am wheelchair bound for life but that doesn’t mean I cant live a full life and with the support from the SDS team I am able to enjoy things that I never thought possible! Simple things that people take for granted like going for a wheel on the beach and being apart of the community as well as doing things around the house. My support workers treat me with so much respect and care, they make me laugh and help me do things that I use to say I can’t do because I am in a wheelchair…. they see my abilities more than I can! and I cannot put it into words how much I appreciate them and the support they give me. Thank you SDS for making me feel accepted and not just seeing me as a client but apart of the SDS family You help me feel accepted and my self esteem has changed for the better. Again thank you SDS for being my support and my family
More than just a service
Storms Disability are more then just a service. They are wonderful dedicated care workers who are supportive and caring.
The team are efficient always reply promptly and arrive on time. The most amazing thing about Storms Disability is they find great activities for my son to do within the community, to help build on moving forward with his goals. They challenge him with rock climbing, adventure walks, attend wildlife parks, exploring beaches and nature areas, music, cooking, art and crafts, Fishing, playgrounds, skate parks and even supporting him volunteering at the serpentarium. The team have grouped together and bussed to launceston to attend Ten Pin bowling and Swimming. The opportunities have been endless for my Son. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful service. No hesitation
When I moved to Tasmania late in 2018 with my intellectually handicapped sister my main concern was finding a suitable support system for Marina.
Shortly after arriving we had the good fortune to bump into the SDS workers in St Helen’s out with their clients. We arranged an appointment with the Director (Gail) and were soon on our way to having Marina’s funding redirected to enable her to continue her day programs. SDS has been very supportive of Marina’s needs and within the constraints of a small town been able to provide a varied and interesting program for her.
I have no hesitation in recommending SDS to potential clients.
